Max-C couplings are used for a variety of reasons. General Industrial applications which experience shock / impact loading can benefit from the shock absorption of a Max-C K2 which will extend train life. For high start-up torques and torsional damping of a train usually incorporating a synchronous motor, a Max-C WB offers the most system protection. Reciprocating equipment such as Diesel engines often require torsionally soft couplings to dampen out the vibrations inherent to these types of drives. For these, a Max-C CB is typically the answer. For all of these applications, the Max-C is typically placed at the motor as it keeps the sizing of the Max-C to a minimum.
